Hey again
It’s crazy to me that we are in 2024. That is still sinking in at this point. It makes me feel old (amongst other things).
It’s been cold outside. If you don’t believe me, check out the photo below of a small amount of snow that we recently got.
For the past few months, we have been looking at the value of our Minivan. We have not enjoyed all of the problems that we have had with it. Losing out on usage for months at a time. It’s been crazy. We took a trip to the local Subaru dealership (who purchased our Fusion last year) and checked to see what they would give us for an offer. They did not match the offer that CarMax had given us – so far to say that typically CarMax will have the best offers and they can’t reasonably match that offer. See above though for a cute photo of the baby boy waiting with us at the dealership. Long story short? No sale. Ah well. Maybe we can keep it after all?
The next day, we were on our way to do some grocery shopping. We opened up the trunk to load some groceries in and then heard a warning chime. I checked what happened and saw the message seen above. It said that there was some problem and we had to manually close the lift gate. We went and closed it.
Hmm, well, we thought it was closed. The van indicated that the hatch was still open. Getting out to check we see that the back hatch would not latch. Ugh. Another issue.
Maryia and I decided that it would be best to have her ride in the trunk on the way home (a short way). It was not so much fun, but a memory that I’m sure we won’t soon forget. Every time we hit a bump she mentioned that she was worried that the hatch would open and things would fall out. So she held that sucker closed the whole way.
Once we got to the house, we used some tools and eventually got the latch to latch closed.
We both kinda felt like this was the last straw. Transmission problems? Paint problems? Other Mechanical problems? Check, check, and check.
Why were we out in the first place? Well, there was going to be a super cold snap in the area for the next week – as such they were forecasting snow, ice, and more snow and more ice on top of that.
They didn’t miss the mark.
As you can see from above, we got everything that they said we would. The kids enjoyed the snow until it had an ice glaze over it, then they didn’t want to go outside for much of anything.
One thing we got that we wish didn’t happen, was some burst pipes.
Arabella went to throw something away in the garage and told us that water was flooding everything. After getting up and checking it out, we discovered that the pipes for the water burst.
Of all the time we have been in this house- we never had this happen, even at times when it was this cold (or colder). Perhaps it was the length of time that it stayed cold? Or maybe it was just time. Who knows.
A burst pipe. You know what that means? Money.
More money is needed to fix things to the way they were. Ugh. Can’t we catch a break?
