On Tuesday I started having contractions (which I had no idea were contractions at first). I didn’t sleep more than an hour that night. Weds we were up by 4:30 to head out to the hospital. By the time I got there my contractions were about 7-10 minutes apart. I filled out the paperwork, answered a ton of questions, and then was prepped for my RCS.
I actually was able to see the doctor remove my son from my belly. It was kind of amazing (other than the smell of my own burnt flesh). He had the tiniest little cry and I couldn’t wait to hold him. He seemed so small and perfect as they laid him on my chest for the first time.
However, shortly after I felt really sick so they had to take him while I threw up and was stitched back together. I already missed him! He was taken to the nursery while I recovered. Daddy stayed with him.
It took us a while but after looking at his sweet face we decided that Elijah Skie fit him perfectly. It was nice to call him by an actual name instead of just “baby” or “little man”.
The nurses were amazing! Seriously I couldn’t have even started to recover without them. I was in a lot of pain but was still able to come home yesterday afternoon.
Elijah is doing well. He lost a lot of weight but he gained a couple ounces back today. I’m hoping as I re-learn how to nurse it will get better.
Arabella loves her baby brother and seems to always want to be touching him. I am still exhausted and can’t do much on my own. It hurts my pride but I’ll get over it. I hate admitting that I need help. I’m struggling to get out of bed and off the couch without help! This incision hurts! The medicine makes me randomly fall asleep so I’m glad that Jason is here for the next few months to help! Yay paternity leave!
I think that’s it for the most part! More to come when I’m not going to fall asleep!
Awww, what a sweet story! I love reading these.
