2023 – January part 1

Happy New Years!

Here is a link to a quick video of one second every day for all of 2022.

As I mentioned in the previous post, we spent New Year’s Eve ringing in the New Year in downtown Seattle. This is what it looked like. A big part of the fireworks show was clouded in smoke because, at the last minute, the wind direction changed and started blowing towards the main viewing area. Either way, it was fun. I’d recommend it!

After the show finished, we headed to the hotel. The next day in Seattle, we went to the Starbucks Reserve Roasters shop as we had done many months before. They were out of a few items we liked (for the drinks) but the food was still exceptional.

That night we headed back to Portland to end the trip. The next day my parents left to go check out and sign the documents for a place they are going to lease for a year or so in Sacramento. Since we had the place to ourselves, we added some mood lighting and turned on Stranger Things!

Before we knew it, it was the 5th and we were celebrating Luca’s birthday. We had a space-themed birthday for him. His big gift was getting a kid-sized basketball hoop. He was ecstatic and kept dunking the ball.

Do you know how I mentioned that we went to Leavenworth in December?! Well, to get an idea of what it was like – you can watch a movie that was based in the town. Here is a link. We didn’t get to see it until after Christmas, but it was cool seeing the place we just visited in a movie. Yeah, it was a Lifetime movie but I like it.

Hmm.. so the following days resulted in us finally finishing the window replacements in the house. The window they initially ordered was the wrong size, and it took them 4 months to get another and schedule time to come back. Either way, here are the before and after photos:

Rounding out this post, I wanted to mention that we listed our fence on the free sites. Someone pinged us about coming and getting the old rotted wood as they wanted to use it for an art project. Gladly! Here is a photo of nearly all of the wood having been picked up and removed (for free). Much better than the quotes for $200 to $300 for someone to trash it.

Also, what better way to end this than with the kids and a goofy photo at Burger King?
