Graduation. 1:50am
Today was graduation day at Cascade.
I was able to successfully surprise Dayna about my being in Portland. I met up with her a brief moment at baccalaureate. She was very excited and even let out a little scream upon taking note that I was in the same room as she was.
People were busy and I was hungry.. so after it finished I left campus and drove to Krispy Kreme (we don’t have them in Arizona) so it was nice to have. I timed it pretty well, because then it was time to go back for the graduation ceremony.
I ate in the car too…. with a nice hot cup o coffee.. mmmm
During graduation I was able to sit and meet up a very tiny bit with Lauren and Rebecca. The time spent with these two was really too short.
One cool thing was that they had a guest speaker who was the lawyer/representative for Dr. Martin Luther King and also Rosa Parks. It was good to hear him speak- but for whatever reason I couldn’t grasp much of what he said.
Anyway… graduation ended.
I went and congratulated my old friends from Cascade. It was good to see them – and kind of a trip knowing they all were graduating from college now. After I made my few hello’s I ran out of space and use. I just kind of felt out of place, just walking off to the side letting everyone else meet up with the people that were sought out in the crowds.. Everyone I knew was crazy busy with everything going on from graduation.. but, yeah I get it. Its supposed to be that way, or so I would imagine.
Then I drove over to Joes (formally GI Joes) to see if there was some Blazers gear I could pick up while I was in Portland, but there wasn’t a whole lot (probably because the season has just ended). I was trying to make plans with Rebecca (one of the main reasons for the visit) but she ended up getting crazy busy and leaving in the afternoon before I had a chance to say goodbye.
Some Blazers stuff I didn’t buy..
I went back on campus, kind of just feeling alone and maybe a tad bit sad. I watched TV in the Lower JC while some girl was sleeping on the couch. It was kind of comforting haha.. I texted Ruth and asked her if she wanted to hang out. About two hours later we met up and watched some more TV. haha Then we returned my rental car at the airport, bought tickets to the max, and rode it all the way until it stopped. Then we turned around and rode it all the way back into the city, got some coffee at Starbucks and then took the trip back to the school where her car was still at.
Had a chance to talk to Micah (who leaves tomorrow for a choir tour for the next 10 to 12 days) and say my goodbyes. So even though the first part of the day didn’t start off very well, hanging out with Ruth and doing aimless rides on the max turned the night around. Plus it was really good to spend some time with her. I think it is what the Dr. ordered.
I don’t think there is much else that I can say happened today.
Except that Ruth’s favorite bible verse also happens to be Mariano Rivera’s too (he has it inscribed on his glove)
just Pray
