2021 – March
March! Springtime is nearly upon us.
Arabella has a thing where she just loves getting Luca dry and getting a diaper on him. She has also been rapping to NF lately. I got a really cute video of her and me going back and forth on his “Lost” song. Check it out on my Instagram, or hers. Either way. Hmm, so what else? How about this: Luca is a basketball fan. He may be the first kid of course who can sit and watch a game (even on TV) with no prompting whatsoever. Arabella liked it and so did Elijah, but Luca seems to be in love with it.
Speaking of Elijah… he decided to put lotion into his hair (while it was dry) and then add more of the bottle to it. Oh boy. What a fun mess to get clean. At least they clean up nicely after all is said and done.
On the family front: Gramps has recently gotten COVID. He was found passed out in his room after being sick for a week or so at home. Someone happened to go check on him and he was found in a bad state. Given his age and health, it is taking a toll on him. He had been hospitalized for a few weeks and ended up in the ICU. He was disoriented and given oxygen, and at times he didn’t know where he was. When he was admitted he was in a fib-rvr and his heart rate was uncontrollable. They started convalescent plasma for COVID-19 (people who had COVID and who have antibodies). His kidney function hasn’t been good either and there were concerns with his bloodwork. His biggest complaint though was to ensure that his goats were being taken care of back at his house (if you know him, that is pretty typical as he loves his goats). He then started improving (thankfully) and has started physical therapy. He was finally released at the end of the month to go home.
Tina (Maryia’s sister) was also taken to the hospital for COVID but her case was less serious than what Gramps had. It is amazing to me that some people don’t believe this is anything to be taken seriously (including most of that side of the family) and nothing more than the common flu. I think after this ordeal we will have a few people who can vouch for how bad it is/was.
Lately, we have been going on lots of walks. While on one of our neighborhood walks, we found a waterfall that someone had made in their yard – they even had a sign made up “Hickory Falls”. I love it, and if I had the money I’d probably do something similar. Luca also has a photo below from that walk and he is wearing his American Express bib/CEO outfit. We are getting the use out of those items! They are pretty awesome.
We also to some parks to expel some of the kid’s excitement and well, just look at what I captured at one of them. The smile on both their faces is pretty priceless.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. I’d have to say Fall, Winter, and Spring are my favorite. I could go without summer and I’d be fine. The Japanese blossoms were blooming and we took the kids both to downtown Portland to grab some photos, and then over to the state Capitol building too.
The kids are a bunch of cheeseballs. They also have this photo thing down pretty well.
We took another photo in our grassy area, this time with Luca included! Being intentional about being active is something that we can celebrate because the walks we go on keep us active and help drain some energy from the kids. After one of our walks, I snapped this photo of the kids and me.
We went to another tulip field (but unfortunately most were not blooming yet, we hit it a little early). It was still fine because the kids liked to run around and go crazy. They are usually pretty well spent by the time the day ends – and this time was not unlike the others. I wish I could still sleep like that.
