Changes are comin’ – I can feel it in the wind!
Women’s day 2018 was upon us. There was a local Mcdonald’s in Southern California that decided to take things to the next level. They had special cups with Mcdonald’s “M” inverted. They also did the same for their uniforms and building signage. It made the news as it was the only Mcdonald’s to do so. Needless to say (in part because of the photos below) we took a trip down to see and show Arabella.
We also were fortunate to see a full rainbow (picture below). The view was much better in person but it is rare to see rain in southern California. During this time we had been applying for jobs all over. From Phoenix to Los Angeles, with the focus though being on Portland. We got a call for an interview at Intel.
Intel?! The Intel?! I mean, the same company who is running the computer that I’m working on? Yes. They are looking for someone to be a project analyst and to help drive the production for their 5G Modems and Bluetooth technology. However, you need to interview in Portland as the office you will work out of is in Hillsboro.
Say no more! We booked a flight and started to prepare.
There are some other photos of the time in so. cal – such as a cute Bunny Ears photo of the kids at Target. Arabella playing in the rain with me and posing as a Unicorn (of course). Since we were on WIC to help out with food costs (and being unemployed) we would frequent the grocery store to pick items up. Well at Ralphs (the local Kroger branded store in the area) they have little shopping carts for kids. To this day Arabella looks for these in any store we go to. It was kind of nice because they had a long pole sticking up and it would be easy to tell where she was.
Before we knew it, it was time for my interview. We all took the trip out to check out places to live, as well as the interview. We were able to get a job offer AND find a place to live in Northwest Portland. Arabella did not want to leave.
So what else happened in the middle to end of the month? As if that wasn’t enough already.
We returned home and got some GREEN Krispy Kreme donuts.
We also bought a car. What?! Why?! How?! I thought you were unemployed.
Well, yes we are still technically. We visited a Ford Dealer that had a Ford Fusion Hybrid for sale. 2013, Titanium trim with 40k miles. This was one year newer than our Prius, and our Prius was pushing 90k miles. So what was the deal? They offered us 9500 for the Prius, and 10,000 for the Fusion. We had mentioned that we were moving to Oregon and they also dropped the sales tax for us too if we shipped the car to Oregon. Shipping the car was cheaper than the tax, so they had a deal.
There are a few pictures of us in Blazers gear at the Staples Center. The first image was earlier in the month. We purchased tickets on eBay but the seller never released the tickets. We ended up walking around and going back home. Lucky for us the Blazers were also going to play the Clippers as well no long after. We grabbed some tickets and made it inside this time. The photo is one I find HILARIOUS. It looks like Sky is so upset with me, but she was just in the midst of saying something when I was trying to get her to smile.
The end of the month was upon us and it was time to move to our new home in Portland.
I really was not excited about moving. I just wanted to get it over with. Moving is probably my least favorite activity outside of having a migraine. We loaded up the U-Haul and made our way up north. By the end of the month, we were entering Oregon (the photo of the U-Haul was at the Mt. Shasta scenic viewpoint)
Times and our life… is certainly chaning.
