Safari

Hey again!

We had the opportunity to visit the Wildlife Safari in Winston, Oregon. They had a family day, which was pretty nice. I had never been but had wanted to go. In some ways, when I’d drive by, it had always reminded me of Bear-a-zona near Flagstaff.

We took the whole gaggle of kids. It was a lot of fun.

Ezra liked looking out the window and seeing all of the animals. He also kept repeating the animals’ names throughout our visit.

We saw: Lions, and Tigers, and Bears (oh my). We also saw Cheetas, Zebras, Elephants, and a bunch of other animals.

They allow you to loop around the animal areas if you want to see them more than once. We looped the Lions multiple times, playing songs from The Lion King (because when in Rome).

Then, as we came to the bear area, Luca wanted to stay in a circle for the rest of the day. We spun around multiple times, listening to bear songs the entire time.

Arabella was able to convince some deer and other animals to come up to the van. While Elijah was taking photos, he had a giraffe almost put its head into our car (he stopped recording and moved out of the way).

On family day, they also gave the kids cotton candy. After driving around the park, you can get out of your car and walk around to see other animals (from multiple flamingos to crocodiles). Fun fact: Multiple flamingos are called what? Yes, a flamboyance.

While waiting for the train, Ezra was able to pet one of the Camels they had here as well.

Overall? It was a lot of fun- and should be how every “zoo” is, instead of how they have things. Worth the trip for sure and family-friendly. A non-profit worth supporting.
