Gametime
Hey there,
A few weeks ago, we had tickets to go to a Blazers game.
The kids’ behavior was less than stellar, and they wanted to call our bluff about not going. I had asked them to do their schoolwork and help pick up any mess they made, but it was too much. They walked off, mainly thinking we would go either way, since we had the tickets.
Okay, fine. Let’s play this game: I went to ticketmaster.com and sold the tickets the day of the game.
I let it sink in a bit for them.
I personally felt like this was likely our one chance to go, and they blew it. We didn’t pay for the tickets we had- instead, we used the last remaining points on one of our credit card rewards, and that was that.
The following weekend, the wife and Ara went to a game with some church friends. At least they would be keeping our streak of going each year alive.
Ara was disappointed that not everyone could go to a game. She said we should try to go to another game – the wife also wanted to go. I felt more exhausted than anything. Tired. Just spent.
We sold the previous tickets for about $80 through Ticketmaster – then we were able to get new tickets to one of the final home games of the season for about $50.
So, we got about a $30 savings and were still able to go to a game. It was their “green” game, which included free MAX rides that evening—another win.

We got there about 45 minutes before tipoff, and the kids were able to walk around, get face painting, make signs, and play all the games they could.

The game?
It was the first home game for the team’s new ownership group.
Overall, pretty good. We ended up winning. The Pelicans made a game of it, leading for about half the game before the Blazers pulled away in the 4th quarter.
Blazers win, Blaaaazzeeerrrsss winnn!
