Out of the Dark
Hey there!
Guess who is back again?
We missed the Winter Lights on Friday night this week as the kids refused to do their homework and cleanup after themselves, so after making sure those things got done we went out on Saturday.

One of the things was called “Books are Lit!” and thats the truth- quite literally. This time around we didn’t my parents (as they went home on Sunday of last week) and we also didn’t have any visitors with us. Arya asked if she could go (so I’m guessing it wasn’t as horrible as she let on?), but then later said that her mom was making her go to some Valentines day event.
Why is this event done? According to the leads of the event – “We’re doing it to bring people together, and also to bring people out of the dark. We are trying to be the stepping stone to spring,”
The kids had fun. They were able to go see an art area at Portland State University, get warmed up with some free hot coco and even get their faces painted.

Due to only going to 3 days – we missed quite a few things we had hoped to go to. Made the point of charting out this night with as many as we could before it was over.
Then with about 5 minutes before it was over, we stopped at GiftyKitty (a store in SE Portland that is dedicated to the love of cats). The owner of the shop is always so nice, we try to make a point to visit here at least once each year. She was so happy to see the kids and even gave them some free stickers to take home.
I feel that was the best way to wrap up this years winter light festival.
