Birthday boy

Guess what time it is?!

It is time that Luca turns the big 5.0

That’s right!! He’s a fiver.

This year, he went with a classic: the Back in Time birthday bash. He also requested to have Portland Trail Blazers cupcakes – a kid after my own heart!

Sky spent the night before preparing everything for the celebration.

We were watching stuff on TV, waiting for midnight to wish and sing him a Happy Birthday. A couple of minutes before midnight, he said he needed to go to the bathroom. I took him, and he started throwing up.

Oh, Buddy.

He spent the next couple of hours throwing up. Sky and I sat holding him so he wouldn’t have to be on the cold bathroom floor. For nearly all of his birthday, he ran a fever and slept (see photo above).

I hate seeing him sick, but I love cuddling him when he isn’t feeling well.

He was a trooper – by late that night, he went over and sat by the table, and had everyone sing ‘Happy Birthday’ for him. He then declined having more than a few crumbs of the cake, letting us know he still felt very sick.

We saved his cupcakes for him, and after a day or two, he was able to have one.

At this point, we need to head back so as not to miss more church and some of the upcoming doctor appointments.

We headed back up to Portland, greeted by a snow-flocked area on the passes. It was beautiful.
