Settling in
Hey there,
I am surprised it is October. It doesn’t seem like it should be. In some ways, this year has felt like many years, and in other days, it seems like it was just yesterday that it started.
On to the updates!
We finally got our plumbing fixed (along with the bill that came with it). Positive side? They didn’t have to tear up the book room, so that’s a plus.
Despite the plumbing being fixed, we can’t use the upstairs bathrooms until we replace all the fixtures due to water flow issues. That may take a minute to get to.
The neighbors have been nice, and all have mentioned that they can’t wait to get to know us better. Never experienced that before living here.
So, the photo above of the Pachy and the toy car? The kids wanted to take that photo; in fact, they insisted on it – and that’s how it was added.
We have checked out a new church. Greenford Christian Church – it was a good size, but it was a little further than we wanted to have to travel. I’d like us to get involved with a church that’s within 30 minutes of us. It was always an issue at New Hope- from no small groups, to meeting up with people, or getting to events. We will keep looking.
OH! They sell McIntosh Apples here- just normally. It wasn’t a common thing in Portland, and it is the golden apple for my mom’s apple pies. I have photos from 7 years ago (and beyond) where the cheapest we could get a pound was for about $1.39, and here we found it for .99 cents. A win is a win.
Found a basement/foundation company to do the job for us – and we are getting it scheduled sometime in December (likely around Christmas). It will be nice to have the basement mostly usable (aside from removing some flooring).
What else? Finally got around to putting the tempest up (our PWA- Personal Weather Station). I had to take some time and scout out the best area to put it up, and finally found it.
We have had a few days with nice rainstorms and beautiful sunsets. You can tell that fall is in the air – (and if you didn’t know, check the ground), it’s just getting started- just like that, we are more than 1/2 way through October. Wowza.
