The next couple of days?

A blur.

An emotional roller coaster.

The day after we arrived, we took a short trip to a nearby waterfall. A short trip across the state line to Pennsylvania. It was nice to clear our minds for a minute and find something (even if small) good from this trip.

So, we pulled out of the offer that we made on the house due to inspection findings. We looked at multiple other houses. We ended up making an offer on a house that would probably be worth a million or more if it were in Portland. Plus, it was in a national historic district.

We LOVED the house so much, we made an offer on the day we were flying out of Cleveland back to Portland.

While in the airport, we discussed the house. We ultimately decided to talk to our realtor and tell him we wanted to pass on that house, too, since they hadn’t yet responded. What was the catch with that one? The area it was in. It backed up to a main road, plus the road that it backed up to was more subpar than anything (think East Portland mixed with North Portland)

We spent the rest of our day visiting places across Cleveland (a chocolate shop, a local coffee roaster, and a book shop) before heading back to the airport. The coffee shop encouraged you to adopt these little dinosaurs, so how could we pass that up?

Before we knew it, we were back in Chicago. Then we were up in the air once again and on our way to Portland.

So what now?

The house we initially looked at, after we backed out, ended up being priced much lower than we expected. We will revisit that in the next few days and see what comes of it – maybe another offer? Hard to say.

That house is in the area we would LOVE to be in, but we are nearly outpriced in the area except for this house – and we are in the peak season of house hunting and listing, so who knows!
