2023 – April part 1
Hey there
April is upon us. My parents came out to visit and to watch the kids while the wifey and I went on our anniversary date for 2022. Back during our anniversary month (August), they had gifted us dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse as we had never been and have been wanting to go. Plus, nowadays we prefer either electronics or experiences when it comes to gifts. Anyway, life has kept us busy. Even when we have visitors we usually have some sort of plans. It has gotten to the point now where we said okay, enough is enough! We need to go before we have another anniversary come and go. It is rare for us to have a date night. I think in 5 years we have gone on 5 dates — and that is typically including any dates for an anniversary.
So we went and booked a reservation in downtown Portland. The service was phenomenal and the food was pretty great too. Here are a few snaps:
They were super nice to us and even gifted us dessert (we didn’t know until they dropped off the check that it was a gift from management).
We remarked that we need to make sure we take time to go on dates and I hope we can do it this year.
The next day we were off to church and again went to Grace Chapel. This time was a little interesting. I suppose that is the best way to put it. This is a church we are still trying out and seeing if it is a good match. Anyway, during the sermon they spoke about gifts of the holy spirit. Some people were called up to talk about their experiences with it, like speaking in tongues, prophetic dreams, etc., and to embrace those things. They had a conference where a lot of people were able to experience it for the first time. Anyway, nothing bad per se but not comfortable with it either.
We went to the Adidas employee store (since if you live in the Portland area and register with Adidas they left you shop with a discount, outside the store they had this huge shoe made out of legos that we thought was pretty neat.
We saw online that a Christian movie was offering free tickets for everyone to come to watch and share. So we went to see “His Only Son” (see link here). It was alright. I mean it was good for a Christian-budget movie and kept to mainly what was in the bible. I don’t want to speak too harshly of it, but I have seen trailers for some other Angel Studios productions (they helped to make this movie too) and they seem to be better made than this one was.
April also means Cherry Blossoms, yes I know we already visited downtown Portland. Primarily because we weren’t sure they would still be up on the trees by the time they came to see them and so we wanted to visit while we had the chance. Anyway, we took photos as this was the first year my parents had ever been to the Portland Cherry Blossoms (or any of them for that matter).
Until next time
just Pray
