2023 – March part 1
Hey!
It feels like it has been a while since I posted. Even though I’ve even added a few posts between the months.
We started the month with a visit from Amber, her brother, and Josh. They needed a place to stay while they got her sister out of a sticky and overall bad situation up near Olympia. It worked out, we had dinner with them one night too. As they only stayed the weekend it wasn’t very long and we didn’t see them too much. The temps were cold and they were anxious to get back to Sacramento before the chance of snow. Here is a photo (below) I grabbed from one of our outside security cameras. Josh brought his truck, and then they rented a U-Haul for the rest of the items.
The neighbors (even tho the truck was small and around for only one day) were asking if we were moving. Ahh, you aren’t that lucky yet. And we let them know that no, we aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
That weekend (after they left) we decided to take a trip to the Portland Art Museum. It is part of the library pass thing that we get where you have free admission. Why not check it out?!
It was overall pretty cool. We didn’t get to see everything and will eventually return to see the rest. Here are a few photos:

The picture (above with the yellow painted wall/background) is a Monet painting called “Water Lilies” which was painted in 1915 as part of his Water Lilies series of paintings. We even saw a few Picasso and Van Gogh paintings.
I found this interesting blurb about Monet on Wikipedia:
Monet’s second wife, Alice, died in 1911, and his oldest son, Jean, who had married Alice’s daughter, Blanche, Monet’s particular favourite, died in 1914.[79] Their deaths left Monet depressed, as Blanche cared for him.[15][80] It was during this time that Monet began to develop the first signs of cataracts.[80] In 1913, Monet travelled to London to consult the German ophthalmologist Richard Liebreich. He was prescribed new glasses and rejected cataract surgery for the right eye.[81] The next year, Monet, encouraged by Clemenceau, made plans to construct a new, large studio that he could use to create a “decorative cycle of paintings devoted to the water garden”.[15]
In the following years, his perception of colour suffered; his broad strokes were broader and his paintings were increasingly darker. To achieve his desired outcome, he began to label his tubes of paint, kept a strict order on his palette and wore a straw hat to negate glare.[81] He approached painting by formulating the ideas and features in his mind, taking the “motif in large masses” and transcribing them through memory and imagination. This was due to him being “insensitive” to the “finer shades of tonalities and colors seen close up”
Anyway, I thought it was interesting to learn.

That following week we got another snowstorm that moved through our area. It wasn’t as much as the time before, but snow is beautiful and a rare thing, we generally all bundle up and go out to see it. Not pictured is Luca, who was still asleep this early in the morning.
Our chances of snow will be getting less and less going forward. We are near spring, which means an increased chance of thunderstorms with our weather vs the normal rain.
What else?! I don’t know. Nothing off the top of my head, so without further ado I’ll end it here.
