2023 – February part 1

hey

Finally a new month. Couldn’t come soon enough. This is also the month that the Portland Winter Light Festival kicks off. It generally will keep us busy for a couple of weekends. It is also time for the 22-cent pie at Toms Pancake House. Happens in February only. The parents visited from Sacramento and so we spent my mom’s birthday weekend going to see some lights. It was their first experience with it. This year’s theme was “space” and here are the photos!

Okay, so I added a photo of a security camera. Why? I recently got a solar panel for it and it does pretty well in keeping things at or near 100%. I feel like that is an accomplishment in the Pacific Northwest where you might have a few cloudy days.

The next weekend my parents were gone and we took the kids out and explored some of the other sites. This by no means is an exhaustive look at everything, but it gives a taste of what there was.

Some of the photos are looking a little grainy but that’s because I grabbed some downsized versions of them to be quick-loading. If you want to see the images you can hop on over to my Instagram. There is even some video of that fireball thing. Pretty cool. Again the whole thing was worth doing.

If in Portland in the first part of February, this is something to check out. Generally, the biggest nights for all of the events are on a weekend, with that said several others keep the lights on during the week. The best bet is to navigate to pdxwlf.com and check. The website might be hard to navigate, but I suppose it’s because they don’t know much about websites and focus on lights?!
