2022 – November part 4

Hey!

I wasn’t sure I’d have anything else to talk about. Thanksgiving was a success, and so were a couple of days after. My parents had to go back to the house in LA for a little as they are in the process of packing up and moving to Sacramento. This left us in a spot where we really couldn’t go anywhere because we didn’t have enough seats.

We took two trips to go to church on Sunday – it took quite a bit longer than expected considering how close the church is to us. The rest of the week we let the kids have time with Grams. When we saw that she was getting bored at night we would put on a movie, or a show to watch. We watched the newest (and final) Jurassic World movie with her and even watched Top Gun Maverick as well. Much to Elijah’s delight (as those are his favorite movies). His favorite, he would want me to mention is Top Gun because he would like to be like Maverick. Silly kid.

We asked Grams if there was anything she wanted to do while she was here. She mentioned that she wanted to see Angel and the kids again. Both Louis and Angel let the wife and myself know they intended to see her again as well. We checked up on that and it seems that it wasn’t a priority for them. They were a month into moving from one house to another down the road and simply didn’t prioritize it. Grams was disappointed but then mentioned that she would like to see Gramps again.

Maybe we can pull this one off. She called him up and he said he would gladly come over if we could pick him up. I told him that if we were making the hour-long trip to his house and back it would be better if he could stay the night. He agreed and I was sent to get him. Arabella was with me when we went, she wanted to get out of the house and see Gramps.

We got him to the house and Arabella shot off to her room and cleaned everything up for him. She ended up leaving him a cute note on his bed (see below).

It’s the first time since 2016 that they were around our kids (without anyone else around). There is something nice about a more intimate setting with fewer people.

We talked up a storm and insisted on taking more photos. The kids seemed to like it. Gramps was much more interactive with the kids than normal and they noticed. Maybe it’s because he was less distracted by everyone else. Who knows, but he said he would be willing to do this again sometime.

As we took him back home we mentioned again about him staying over at our house, and that he is always welcome. He quipped “Well, I wanted to see Salome (Grams) so I thought I ought to come out” – at this point, I don’t care if we have to fly Grams in to get quality time with the family.

Grams stayed home when we brought him back to his place on November 30th. After that, we took a quick stop to help (as much as we could) Angel and Louis move and pack. They only have a few days left until they have to be out and while packing/moving is our least favorite thing – it’s something we can do to help. Grams wouldn’t have had any place to sit so we had to leave her at the house – she will however be with us until the 3rd of December (Saturday).

And just like that.. tomorrow is the start of December.
