2022 – November part 2
Hey,
Grams is with the family. We sat down the first morning she was here to have breakfast. This was the scene. A day later (when my parents arrived) we all took a trip to Multnomah Falls. She hadn’t been in over 20 years – figured it would be something to do and get everyone out of the house. We took a selfie in front of the falls to remember the occasion. We also took other photos (grandparents and kids) as well. While at the falls we decided to do some touristy things. We got everyone a hot coffee to warm up (except my dad who doesn’t generally like hot beverages). Instead of that, I got him some warm roasted cashews to have. Oh, man were they good. The kids also wanted to get ice cream (yes, when it was cold outside) so we got 2 kids’ cones and a big cookie to share. It was fun, I really would like to do something like that again. It’s pricey, sure – but there is something about slowing down and enjoying what is before you.
The next day we decided to go to the coast. We had planned on going to the aquarium in Seaside, something we had never done before. When we arrived Grams was telling us that she wouldn’t be able to walk around the area, but that walking a few hundred feet to the base of Multnomah Falls caused her to feel discomfort. She sprained an ankle a month or so prior and it was still bothering her. Instead of going to the aquarium, we decided to make the best of it and get some taffy. They have a big wheel that you spin when inside, so we all took a turn to see if we won anything. Everyone got a free piece of taffy, except Luca. He spun it and won a small popcorn. If you don’t know him, you may never know this but one of his favorite things is popcorn. Big win!
Since we were already on the coast we decided to go to the Tillamook creamery. We went inside to see if they would have a wheelchair that we could use. We popped inside and they had one for us so that made getting around a little easier. Here are some photos of the event.
Ice cream? Yeah, when at the Creamery it’s a thing you have to do. Even if it’s snowing outside you just do it. We had toasted cheese and tomato soup for dinner as well, I highly recommend getting it if you like those items normally. They even have squeaky cheese in the tomato soup.
We tried to be out of the house as much as we could while my parents were visiting. They had an extra seat in their car that we did not have, so we could all go somewhere. The wife stopped at Angel’s house and picked up a wheelchair for Grams to use while in town. Now we would be a little better off and have mobility.
We took her to Joe Brown’s popcorn shop in the Lloyd Center and stopped to take a photo in front of the skating rink and tree that was there as well. Pictures pictures pictures! We wanted to take as many as possible, these types of things are rare. We had been getting lazy about taking photos (due to not traveling as much) so we are making an effort to get better at it.
We stopped at the usual free places for my wife’s birthday (which also happens to be my dad’s birthday). Starbucks/Blackrock and over to Krispy Kreme for a free dozen (for each birthday) as well. It was enough to feed everyone. For dinner, we took a rare trip to Outback Steakhouse to celebrate the occasion.
Next up? Thanksgiving.
