Luca Isaiah
Twenty-twenty-one!
Amazing. When I was little I thought it would be cool to see flying cars when we got to 2015. Here we are years after that- but still no flying cars.
Instead, we are dealing with a global pandemic. They have these tents that are drive-throughs where you can go and get tested for COVID. Since we would be in the hospital (the doctor scheduled it for January 8th – we requested if we could do it on the 7th, but the doctor said he wasn’t working that day) Maryia had to be tested for COVID.
The kids had a fun time with Grammy and Grampy as seen being silly in front of the tree and driving cars on the floor in the family room. My parents stayed with us during this time until we had the baby and while we were in the hospital they would watch over them. There is a tension in the air between us and them, and it has nothing to do with how long they have been here. It has to do with that big fight that took place over Thanksgiving. Anyway, putting that aside we were ready to have this kid!
On the morning of January 5th, Maryia and I were arguing over something. I can’t recall what – however she came out of the bathroom and said “Ummm my water just broke” and that pretty much ended our fight. As it was the morning, I had already logged on for the day and worked almost half of it. I sent a few messages to folks letting them know I’d be out and we were on our way to the hospital.
My heart rate went a little higher too (see watch image below) but I can’t imagine why. We parked next to an elevator then got out and noticed that the elevator was out of order. I loaded up our things and drove to the side stairwell where the wifey had to walk downstairs to get to the hospital. Poor thing.
Before I knew it I was being ushered in to get changed.
The doctor we had switched to was not available, but his nurse was available (she seems pretty good to us). She delivered the baby and we were able to get a quick family photo. How odd was it that Maryia had to wear a mask in the operating room? Well, her COVID test didn’t come back in time, so they ran another one in the hospital which also didn’t come back until after the baby was delivered. At that point, it was confirmed that she was negative and did not have COVID.
It took us a day to finalize the boys’ names. We wanted to keep the “ah” on all of the names. Arabella (ah), Elijah (ah), and now….. LUCA! (ah).
Luca Isaiah was born on January 5th at 4:59 pm. We named his first stuffie “Jack” as an ironic/funny name. Took a TON of photos of the baby, but I’ve shared a few of them above.
Then we were off to the house. Considering that we were now considered “contaminated” we didn’t come into contact with my parents. They said goodbye to the kids, but to limit their exposure to the change of COVID we didn’t see them and they were in their car already packed when we came home. We lifted Luca so they could see them and waived goodbye. It didn’t hurt that we were still having a spat with them either.
Just look at that baby boy. He got a few shots at the hospital and so we finally took the bandages off, he wasn’t happy. Look at the marks on his poor little feet. Finally, I present to you a TOTALLY SUPERVISED photo. The kids laid down with him and he went right to sleep.
