2020 – February part 2

Hey again,

My time as a Juror was quickly coming to an end as the month was coming to a close.

On the weekends we still were making time to go to Home Depot or Lowes and get updated fixtures throughout the house (see a picture of the bathroom light we recently replaced).

On one of the last days of the trial, I read a fascinating article in National Geographic about storm chasers who died. Read another article about it here. The crazy story about how these guys that were incredibly safe in pursuing the storms. The group would also track and measure to help push the safety response for the warnings of such tornados. It took a perfect storm to move in an unusual way and they, unfortunately, met their end.

Speaking of the end – I was excused from the deliberations portion of the trial (as another gentleman and I were the two alternates and were no longer needed). From the perspective that I have – it was like I was robbed of the conclusion. I wasn’t able to talk about the trial with anyone, at any time and the day when all of the jurors can discuss it openly, I was excused?! Ugh.

I had exchanged numbers with a few of the people in the group and they let me know that after they came to a verdict they would grab lunch/dinner nearby with everyone who was a part of it.

It was nice to meet up with everyone and freely talk about it. They also came to the same conclusion that I did – which is that Tyler Nees was guilty of murdering his father.

It was an event that was covered by the local media outlets – so I grabbed a couple of screenshots to share. The Judge, the Prosecution, and the defense. What made this defense interesting (if you can see Tyler is the only one at his table) was that he decided to defend himself. He did not have a law degree, but apparently he was a part of another trial with a lawyer– there was a lot of hush-hush about what went down BUT there was another trial (ours). The term “backstabber” will probably never carry the same weight as it did after this ordeal.

See the explorer? Yeah – so our car was getting repaired and they provided us a loaner vehicle until they are done. Not so bad (other than the gas mileage).

House news?!

See that hole? Well, the kids do NOT want to be in separate rooms, so much so that they began to dig a hole in between the two walls so they could be together. They told us that eventually, they wanted it to be big enough for them to walk and have a little door for each other to come and go. The rooms were clean though right? Wrong. Check out the photo below of Arabella’s room.

We finally got around to taking down that hideous lamp/chandelier in the living room – here is a picture of what it looked like before it came down and was replaced.

The end of the month also means Arabella’s birthday. My parents came up to celebrate so we also had a birthday cake ready for my mom (who had a birthday earlier in the month). We took a trip to Joe Browns Carmel Corn shop (the oldest operating business in the Lloyd Center mall since it opened in 1960).

As it is once again Ara’s birthday we got her a cake fitting for things she loves currently. Unicorns and Mermaids and fish (well the fish is because of Flounder in the Disney classic The Little Mermaid).

just Pray
