2019 – April part 2

“Time is ticking away. Tick tick ticking away” – dc Talk

We went to St. Johns, took a bunch of photos, and found more artsy things to take pictures of. We visited some local favorites and our favorites that we had made along the way. Portland vs Oklahoma City – we had gotten tickets to 2 playoff games and let my parents pick which one they wanted to go to. Below is an image of the game that they went to while we watched the kids and Willie. It was a great game to go to! The Blazers beat OKC and won handily. I have to admit, we were a little jealous because the game they picked was actually the game that we wanted to go to. Anyway, why complain!? We would get an opportunity too. In the back of our minds, we thought that the chance of them winning BOTH games that we were going to wouldn’t be crazy high. Alas, we will make the best of it. After the game, we went to more spots to take photos (like the Voodoo photo below). There was also a LOT of packing going on. I hate moving.

During all of this I was still going to work – here is a pretty photo I took in April while walking out of work. Finally, we went to Sharis to meet up with Gramps and Nonnie again as we wanted to see them as much as possible and wanted to really make them a priority. To put it in perspective: During the whole time that we lived in Portland we met up with them once or twice each month. This April we saw them maybe 5 or 6 times.

Easter was fun and we invited Jeanie (Sky’s friend from her Taekwondo days) to go with us. Afterward, we hit up Signal Stop Pizza in St. Johns which is a cool Pizzaria built out of an old gas station. If in the area it’s worth going to, plus the pizza is pretty phenomenal. We also it up another tulip field (this time a free one in Vancouver).

A Blazers game?! Yes, it was our turn! As you can see the arena was rocking! We went all out and did the full face paint too. They also pass the game ball down from the top of the area from a different section each game. We have never had the chance to pass it down, but that changed TODAY. Kinda wanted to just hang on to the ball. How fun! It was a ton of fun and the whole thing was such a rare experience. How rare? Watch the clip below- this is the game we were at.

To say we were through the roof was probably an understatement.

The game-winner, series-clenching shot – some people don’t ever get to go to such an epic game, but we did. We were so fortunate- think of it. We saw a playoff OVERTIME win with the Arizona Cardinals and now a Series walk-off win with the Blazers. How did we end up celebrating?

We took a trip to the Portland City Grill and ordered some Wagyu Steak (this was pre-planned, win or lose we had this in the schedule). Wagyu steak has to be the best I’ve ever tasted in my life. The stuff melts in your mouth. As pricey as it was, we ordered one Fillet and split it for the two of us.

Side Note: While celebrating the win we noticed that some Blazers players had actually come to celebrate at the same restaurant. We didn’t say anything to them (because they are people too) but we do enjoy the memory of it.

What else can be seen? What else can be done?!

We took a trip to the Newport Cafe to order an 8-pound burger. Look at the size of that thing – it’s MASSIVE. We also did some hikes to waterfalls that we hadn’t had the chance to see yet.

Towards the end of the month, we took a day cruise on the Portland Spirit. We had won tickets and figured to use them before moving. We also went to Astoria to visit the Bowpicker (for fish and chips) and went to the Astoria Column too (pictured above). The day before we were set to leave we met up again with Gramps and Nonnie for a final time.

The next day? We went to Home Depot and picked up our truck. Loaded it up and we were on our way.
