2019 – March
Part of the Travel Oregon initiative were these posters that they gave out (for free) at all the different welcome centers. In March we decided to go get the ones that were a little harder to get. Here is a photo of the forest we drove through to get one down in Bend.
Part of Arabella’s birthday also meant the bleed-over into March. We took a trip to the beach (Seaside) and visited Pig-N-Pancake. It was here we noticed a BIG PINK hoodie that she was over the moon about. We got it for her and she won’t stop wearing it (yes, it is too big for her, but this way she can grow into it)

Elijah was playing outside with his sister a week later when it started Snowing! Did he come inside? No, he instead got on his play car and started running through it. All of the snow made the car very dirty (as anyone who lives in snow can tell you) so we gave her a quick wash. Then I went to an Intel work event where Damian Lillard came to speak (he is the star guard for the Portland Trail Blazers). I remember that part of the interview someone asked.. during the offseason what kind of food is the tastiest that you have had? He responded by talking about Wagyu steak. Up until this point I had never heard of it.
Winter is supposed to be the wettest for the northwest. This year, we were abnormally dry. Don’t believe me? Look at the stats (image below). Even Los Angeles had 12 inches of rain, while we only had 7. We took the family to a performance of “Bow the Knee” which is a local church production that one of Sky’s friends attended. It was all about Easter and the resurrection of Christ.
The Children’s Museum and the Oregon Garden were two other spots we hit up the following weekend. See Arabella being a doctor to the baby? Kinda fits her look if you ask me. On the other end and at the Oregon Garden Lijah loved being able to climb up on a big tractor. I would imagine that riding on a tractor with him is the same as riding on Snoopy’s red house.

We also visited OHSU to visit some family that was in the hospital. We took the aerial tram up and down while waiting for a friend to show up. It was free to ride down, but not up (we didn’t know). Thankfully a Doctor who was taking a ride up allowed our family to ride with him on his pass. At the top, you were treated to some incredible views of the city and Mt Hood.

Rounding out the month we met up with Gramps, Nonnie, and a cousin of the kids. Took another trip over to the coast too. We like to enter contests that are on Facebook or Instagram. We won another contest, this time tickets to the Blazers game sitting in the “First Tech” area of the arena (which was on the lower level). It was a fun game and Sky was even asked to put up a chart of blocks for the game.
The only bad part of the game was that our star Center (see a picture of the Big Head) was injured – in fact, he was injured for the rest of the season shortly after we had taken this photo. It was bad (you can read about it here) It was so graphic that they wouldn’t show any replays in the arena of what happened. I must say, up until this point we have been doing great in the season – so it makes me a little worried that we will lose a large portion of our depth.
