2018 – July

Hey!

There is a lot that went on this month. Prepare for a lot of photos!

We started the month with a trip downtown and again, took the MAX as Elijah loves it. We also went to the Portland Saturday Market and if I may say… it was a great summer day. Clouds spotted the blue sky. Temps stayed cool – can’t ask for more than that. We made some random trips around the area too. Saw the “Peace Candle of the World” and took a photo showcasing our car. Also visited Pittock Mansion at sunset for a great view of the city. Took a small hike to the Witches Castle which is within the Portland city limits. We took a trip over towards the coast and went to Haystack Rock.

Elijah really is a ham! If you couldn’t tell before then check these out.

As we made our way along the coast we stopped at Tillamook for a bite to eat. Then stayed for the evening in Seaside to watch the fireworks show.

Seaside has one of the best fireworks shows. The thing is because so many people are on the beach you can really sit back and watch the ‘homemade’ fireworks show which consists of everyone-and-their-mother setting off the fireworks. Later on in the evening, Seaside has a much larger corporate show they have as well, but the whole experience is pretty immersive.

Tornados?! Yeah, so I really love the weather. I decided to look up different areas of the country to see where (if anywhere) would be a non-tornado area. this was the result!

So let’s get on to the travels! We have come to the conclusion that if we are up in the Northwest with no viable way to purchase a house then we might as well travel and enjoy the time we have out here!

We went to the Cape Mears lighthouse, Toktee Falls, Forks (think Twilight movies), Mt. St. Helens Volcano, Cape Flattery, Port Angeles, and even all the way south to Crater Lake.

As you can see from the glowing sky Port Angeles was amazing. I think that photo was at like 10:15 at night with a temp of like 65 degrees. Then you have another orange photo with the trees, but that was from the Crater Lake area and caused to the wildfire smoke.

Was it really that bad? Well, take a look at the photos below to give you an idea of the smokiness. While up in the Port Angeles area we also stopped and went for a hike in the Rain Forest, mainly because we wanted to go to a rainforest.

The northwest really has some incredible beauty. It must be seen!

We finished off the month with a trip to Mt. Rainer.

Upon first look at that majestic mountain, we were in love. It really is nice. There were hikes we went on, rivers we waded in, and huge trees the kids were able to explore near (see above for the two minions). Again, our thought is – if you are going to travel then let’s make it worth it! One of the last photos is of our National Parks Annual Pass that we renewed for the year.
