Man time has really gone by quickly. It is already February. I never thought I’d have a wife with a one-year-old, a steady job but no place to live. The world is a crazy place.
A rare thing happened: on the morning that we had to be out (February 1st) it was Foggy throughout the Phoenix Metro area (which is not common). My parents came out and helped us move our items into storage and that was that. We were homeless.
I went to work later that day (as my parents drove back to LA for work). Crazy crazy feeling. Instead of parking at my normal spot I had to park across the street in some business parking lot. I left the keys with the wife in case she needed to drive anywhere – and this was the look on their faces as I left.
By the time I had gotten off of work, we decided that we would begin hotel hopping. As long as we kept the prices about $40 or $50 a night we wouldn’t be sinking – because our electricity and water would all be paid for. The photo is the view of the hotel we pulled up to (a Ramada near Arizona Mills). This should be fun and if not it will be an experience we may never forget.
If you didn’t guess, the next photos are all the different hotels that we stayed at. Shout out to Hotwire for getting us Hot Rate Hotels at some pretty good places that were well under our budget. Arabella didn’t mind and even thought the sink at one of the hotels was a pool made for her.
We are now more than halfway through the month and we are pending to hear back from people on places to live. We ended up staying at the Crowne Plaza a few times, but one of those times we forgot to take our small fan with us. The wife called the front desk while I was at work and they said that housekeeping didn’t find anything in the room. Our conclusion is that they stole it. The good news is that a friend from work offered us her apartment – we could stay rent-free and have a place for our family. She was already living with her girlfriend and her lease wasn’t up until the end of the month… so due to our circumstances, she let us have it. Thanks, Jennifer!
