Well it has been 2 days since the US had it’s credit downgraded to AA+ instead of AAA like it’s been since they’ve begun the grading.

It’s kind of a big deal.

I’m not so sure it will be a good thing for the markets. In fact the markets are set to open in a few hours so it should be a fun day. In the past week or so the NYSE has dropped over 10% and that was before this news.

Some markets overseas have already closed their Monday session down ranging from 200 to 400+ points down.

But our stocks are funny. They don’t always do what you think they will. Time will tell. Example of the craziness? Last week the markets had their second worst day since opening after 9/11. The news? That congress agreed to raise the debt ceiling and avoided default.

July 31st.

It’s almost August.  In fact in just a few hours it will be August.  I think it is kinda crazy.

So I have this new laptop that I have from Dell.  Up until tonight I had no complaints on it.  Tonight I seem to be getting a little bit of lag when I type and delete something.  It is kind of annoying… and I’m not sure why it’s happening.  Hmm.. well moving on

Lets update all of the job news.  There is a bit of information that I’d like to share.

First is the update on the job that one of my old co-workers was helping me with.  It still seems like it could be a real possibility in the future.  I’m not sure how much of a difference that job would make now as it is very part time – but if you look at the big picture then you can see the potential.  It has a huge upside.  Truth be told.. that upside is the reason I spent the money I didn’t have on getting a laptop.

What else… hmmm….

I’ve applied at all sorts of places lately.  Most of those have been call centers as most other jobs won’t even contact you back.  I applied at US Airways as a reservations agent and with Stream as an Apple support technician.  They both were on the same week and as chance may have it they both offered me the position.  It was either take it or leave it – on the spot for both of them.  So, what did I do?  Naturally.. I accepted both.  No, I can’t work both – but neither start until September so I have some time to decide.  I also have a pending job offer with Sears (yes, that job that I had for almost 3 years) and seeing as how it pays the highest of any of the jobs that I applied for – It would be my first choice (out of the three).  I know what you might be thinking.  I won’t like any of them… but from my point of view if I was given the chance to work at Sears again I’d take it as the lesser of the two other evils.

I have and will continue to apply at other various jobs.  The pay is always something that is brought into consideration.  A job will always ask you if the pay makes a difference, but in the end-  if you didn’t receive a check at the end of the week then you probably wouldn’t be working that job.  This is the case most of the time, not all of the time.  Some people really love their job and wouldn’t trade it.  I understand that.  It makes sense to me, but call center work is not my dream job.  Not even close.  If I am blessed enough to have a job (yes, even a call center job) at this point with how the economy keeps tanking then I’ll feel rather fortunate.

Sears was a good employer to work for, so I really wouldn’t have much too much to complain about.  I mean, let me jog your memory for a minute.  If you remember at the time that I left Sears in 2005 I was given an offer to step up into management.  I declined and returned to school (Cascade).  But I have to admit… that was kinda cool and made me feel somewhat appreciated.

There isn’t an update for a job for Sky other than a photo shoot she might land with some company.  She quit the photography job as she would have had to buy a car and drive some 33 miles each way for a job that paid rather low given the kind of commitment she would have to make to the place.

What else…?  The NBA is still locked out but the NFL has a new agreement and will resume as normal.  The final Harry Potter came out what– 2 weeks ago?  Something like that.  It was good.  I liked the whole series.. probably one of (if not the best) made series I’ve seen.  From the movies to the way it was managed.  As for the final movie?  I can’t complain too much without giving parts away to those who haven’t seen it… so I’ll refrain.  I’d give it 8 out of 10.

I think that’s all I have.

There was a thunderstorm tonight and I posted a picture of the dust rolling in via facebook.  It’s raining a little outside right now and there is a chance for rain in the beginning of the week.

just Pray

A lot has happened since last time.  Starting with me not starting at the dollar tree at all.

Yep.

Figured if I had that bad of a punch in the gut- that much of a bite.. it might not be what the good man upstairs has in-store for me.  I prayed on the subject, others did for me as well.  Nearly everyone was telling me that it wasn’t a job for me.
Coincidence?  I think not.

Then a prior co worker of mine asked if there was any way that they could help out.  I told them of my situation and they said that even if it was a part time job they would make it a priority to help me out.  Uh, what?  All glory be to God, but really..  I don’t deserve it.

Now nothing is set in stone… so I won’t speak of the opportunity but wow.  In all my time job searching this is the first person to show that they actually care.  Even if it doesn’t work out, it has really been refreshing.  They even spoke about how they prayed God could use them to help me.  Craziness.

Maybe it’s just what the dr ordered.  I’d say so.. but what do I know?

I’m meeting with them this week to talk over things some more.

Maryia (Sky) has also been having luck on the work front.  A photography studio was impressed with her talents and so she is checking them out to see if the job will be mutually beneficial.

I’ve had a little time to check out some new themes for the blog or maybe the poetry site.  Either way, one of them will be getting a refresh sometime soon.  I’d secretly like to update them both, but i’m very picky with the appearance of things.  I’ve also been working to update the photography site and should even be able to have a fully functional portfolio site up and running for 2Nine Studios sometime soon.  Fun times!  If the job doesn’t turn out the way I hoped those things will probably get done a lot sooner.  Here’s hoping they take a long time.

4th of July has come and passed with no fireworks this year as Sky doesn’t like the holiday or the events.  So we spent the night at home and watched a movie.

Last thing.  On the 5th there was a haboob (a big dust storm).  It was pretty intense.  Perhaps even epic.  It has even made the worldwide news outlets.  The airport had to even close for a little.  They’re calling it the worst one in state history.  Things were a mess.  People are still cleaning up from it all.  It rained for like 5 minutes afterwards… just long enough for it to muddy up all those cars in the valley. It was kinda fun going out the next day and noticing that all the highway and street signs were brown due to the dust mixed with a little rain. The sky didn’t actually start to lose it’s haze until nearly a day later.

I’m having a hard time with accepting 8.75 an hour part time.

It feels like I am more than de-valued.  Stuck.

Ugh.

Another post.

So fathers day just passed and it was pretty good.  We took a trip to Prescott and then decided to go to Jerome as well.  I enjoyed it, getting away from the city and even being able to enjoy some cooler air.  It’s supposed to be like 112 this week.  Yuck.  Oh well.  Least I was able to get away for a little.

The job search is still bleak at best.  Cause I haven’t heard from Chase or US Air I don’t believe anything will come of them.  I have been applying everywhere… including Dollar Tree and McDonalds.  Oh yeah.  Check me out.  Hopefully i’ll hear something from someone someday.

What else… I’ve switched to T-mobile and am still getting use to having a phone that includes multimedia (like things that require data).

Hmm othet than that… thing have been alright.

Events: this week Tina is getting married. Congrats to her and to Jonathan.

I think that within the next week or so i’ll be redoing Sky’s website for her, implementing a few new things.  Just will depend if I can sit at the lappy for a few hours without interruption.
