Nov 2011

Can you believe it is already upon us? November is here.

It is craziness. This year is flying by so quickly as it edges closer to ending.

What has been up since my last post?

Well, let’s start off with our opportunity to try out the Thirsty Lion at the Tempe marketplace. Maryia had orange chicken and I had some lamb, which really wasn’t nearly as good as I had hoped it would be. Because it was a soft opening we had our meals comped (which is why I tried something new in the first place). For the record, I don’t think it was the restaurants fault for me not liking my dish.. I just didn’t like it very much.

Here is a picture of outside the restaurant.

What else? Mmm well Maryia went to NY during the earliest nor-easter on record. Or let’s rephrase/reword that, it brought the most snow that they’ve seen that early in fall. She didn’t get to see too much of things she had wanted to.. with places being in a state of emergency and all. You could be thinking that she enjoyed the change and the snow? Well no actually. She isn’t fond of snow. I do however think it was good for her to visit her friend and get away for a few days.

During those days it was very quiet around the house. We had a yard sale and sold some things that we had just been carrying around from one place to another with no rhyme or reason. So that was good.

Um.. I think that’s about the size of it. I have applied to a few jobs but haven’t heard anything back from anyone. JJ has started his job with Walgreens as of Halloween. On the sports side: the Cardinals keep losing. At this point I bet they wish the lockout would have lasted all season because we as fans are still missing out and are not even getting to see them really play. They’ll lead most of the game only to give it up at the very end. Sigh, it’s rather disheartening.

I guess my last topic I have for the night is Conan. Yeah, so I don’t normally watch his show as I don’t find him funny… But tonight the tv was on and he was doing his opening stand up comedy part so I thought I’d stick around and give him another try. He said that they were going to have an exciting show and that there would be a marriage on the show. Exciting yeah? He would actually be the one performing the marriage as an actual minister. He had found a website that would make him an ordained minister of any religion he wanted and it is 100% legal.

The web address is www.themonastery.org and it sparked my interest enough to check it out. This website will not only give you what you need to do weddings but will also give you a doctorate of divinity. All for the low price of 30 some dollars and change!

I get it. Comedy blah blah. This website isn’t as unique as you would think. There are multiple websites that will give you the same thing. This is just one of the more popular sites.

I think that as long as people want to take the church out of marriage then it’s fine. It would be like getting ‘legally’ married. My issues are only when places like these allow virtually anyone to conduct a wedding with so much as an ‘official document’ that you buy with no training or anything. I guess it’s just… making fun of things more than anything. At least that is how I see it. I am kind of interested in signing myself up just to say I have a doctorate and am a minister! It’s a joke! But what can you do? Nothing. The website even touts that Conan O’Brien is one of their newest ministers. I’m sure it’ll help out their finances. The thought never even occurred to me that you could do this kind of thing online and it would be just as legally binding as much as your pastor at your local church. It kind of bugs me but what can you do? Nothing.

Ending on a positive note, I can start to bust out my Christmas music again.

Until next time

just Pray.
