Hey
Time for an update.
Went to see the Number 23 on Friday. It was pretty good- slow to start but got progressively better.
Saturday morning I had an interview with Liberty Mutual. I drove like 45 minutes to this place where they were holding the interviews. I arrived like 35 minutes early. (started at 10am Saturday morning.. was like a job fair thing for them lasting until 2) I didn’t want to spend all day at the thing and wait in lines, so I would rather be early.
I sat in my car for a few minutes.. thinking about maybe getting some breakfast or something because I was so early. I decided against it. I got out of my car.. and forgot my cell phone. So I reached in and grabbed it. Then I closed the door and… then a shot of pain went through my body.
The door closed.. with my finger caught between it. Lucky for me it was only the tip of my finger, but it hurt like no tomorrow. I dropped my phone and scrambled for my car keys to unlock the door.
Finding the keys I unlock the door and looked at my newly imprinted finger. They nail looked to be broken down to the bottom. Blood was coming out and not stopping. Upon this happening.. I was like ‘shoot!’ I didn’t want that stuff to get on my clothes.. that would look bad. So I stuck my finger in my mouth. A few seconds later I felt my mouth full with blood. I spit it out and sure enough a mouth full of blood came out. Yucky tasting. I started shaking my finger to make it clean before I walked inside the hotel (where it was held). The blood splattered on the sidewalk.
Walking inside I looked around to see where the restroom was. I couldn’t see it. I looked for hotel people. About 5 people were checking out but nobody was at the counter. I walked to an area where they were serving breakfast and seating people. I started to feel sick. I told the lady.. “hi… i’m here for the interviews…”
“okay.. what interviews?”
“the Liberty Mutual ones, but I just smashed my finger and I need to clean it off… where is your restroom?”
“down the hall and to the left.. please come back when you are done so we can file a report”
I took about 5 steps and made it into a hallway. At this time I was feeling numb all over. The kind of feeling you get when you hit your funny bone in just the right way. It started to get darker.. and then….
About 20 minutes later I wake up in a cold sweat. Eyes closed. Whispering to myself.. Oh my God.. I’ve got to get up. Then I remembered, I’m in a hotel lobby.. I’ve gotta get up now! But I had no energy to do so. I opened my eyes to see about 7 people standing over me with walkie talkies.
They helped me to a chair and for the next 10 or 15 minutes a medical crew from the hotel bandaged me up.. telling me I might need stitches. I woke up on my back.. so I figure I just fell back. They kept putting stuff on my face (which I didn’t understand). I figured that my finger reached to my face and put some blood on it. They probably just thought it was a cut.
They told me that my face was cut, my arm and wrist. My knee is bruised from this event. They told me to go into the restroom to look. I did and .. I was quite surprised when I saw my face.
I told them I needed to go do the interview now and they let me go. I walked into the interview place and they were like “woah what happened to you? do you want to come back another day?”
I said, “No, it took me about an hour to get here, and I smashed my finger and I blacked out.”
Now in the interview I’ve explained this a few times to a few different people. One of the interviewers says “you would be great for the position that we had posted” I’m thinking.. great! Right? right. She continued, “but right now we have no positions available for that, because they’ve been filled. But if a background check doesn’t work out, you’ll have a shot!”
Fantastic.
So I got home, and here is what I saw.
I have no memory of what happened. All I know is what I typed. I really wish I had video to see what happened.
A few days later (today), it has been healing pretty well (kept it bandaged up til now).
Anyway.. thats the news kids.
just Pray.
Ciao!
