A few days ago..

it was this hot….

Yes, that’s the newspaper here in Phoenix.  Click to get a better view of it.

A day later… The high tempature was 120 degrees.

One hundred and twenty degrees.

Hot.

Yesterday it rained 2 inches in a matter of hours.  I was outside, walking in the rain.  Soaked to the bone… it was great.  I talked to Billie Jo last night too, double fun.

Tons of lightening.  I didn’t care.. but it did make my heart rate pick up.  I think that happened because it reminded me of 20 strikes in one area.  Picture a scene from one of those movies where the world is ending and people are running away.  I saw a green glow following after each strike.  Even better was that before it started to rain I was driving towards the storm and saw lightening strike a mountain, catching it on fire.

It is always fun when it rains in Phoenix.  Last night 20,000 people didn’t have AC or Power but I had power — yay.  And well its even better seeing reporters get soaked and talk about how they like the rain and also the joy of the change it brings.  Reporters who stand in a quarter inch of rain and say, ah!  Look!  It is so deep!

Last night it was lightening a lot (as I said), and the public safety people made an announcement that no reporters could raise their tall broadcasting tower on their vans due to the lightening, so some news stations showed out takes of when they tried to get footage.  *picture a reporter stopping 3 times, trying to say “We are coming to you live…” because he doesn’t have the sense to have his back to the rain, instead — faces it and the rain ends up in his eyes*  It was like the Weather Channel gone bad.  The reason they put the outtakes on the air?  Some video equipment got fried… so they were calling in by phone and showing footage an hour old.

Comical.  But I must admit.. last night I was happy of all the rain.  Right now in my closet I have a soaked set of clothes.  My shoes were still damp this morning.

Other than that I went to the 3rd format worship @ Central on Sunday evening.  It was okay.. it was like a big 242 with flashy lights.  It will work better because it is set up for more people to attend, and people might want to hear what Cal has to say.

Even if I didn’t agree with everything Cal was saying.. or hmm.. how he was presenting it.

Yeah, that’s all for now.  This may not classify as a real update, but its good enough for now.

“ [God Disciplines His Sons ] Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. ”- Hebrews 12:1
