Fall into Autumn With Flux Capacitor Fun

September is almost over and life has been non stop. The kids officially are back into the swing of school. Luca started Pre-K this year. He’s officially reading words. He can count pretty high (Well above 20). He is still obsessed with Hot Wheels! His favorite color is Green. He has started really enjoying going to church thanks to Laura and Holly. He loves singing the books of the bible.

Elijah is in 3rd grade now. He still loves history and math. He loves learning about historical tragedies like the titanic, 9/11 and just started learning about the Holocaust. He is still doing Beast Academy for Math but his favorite class is drawing. He loves sketching.

Arabella is officially in Middle School. She’s not a fan of math but is a rock star at reading. She loves painting and baking and being outside. She is getting to the age though that she just wants to be at her friends houses all of the time. She still loves pigs.

Ezra is growing up so much. He is our tiny tornado who takes off into the night full of emotion, independence, and beautiful personality. He loves rice krispy treats, milk, and watching horses.

Little update: Two weeks after our car seats went missing a random car drove up to our house, dropped out car seats off at the door and then left. The seats were done with whatever adventure they had gone on and finally made it home. The airline called us and said they had never left the Portland airport. Why no one could find them I’ll never know but it’s good to have them home.

This September, we took the kids not just through time, but into the heart of one of our favorite movie universes, all while supporting a cause close to our hearts: the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
We attended a Back to the Future-themed event that felt like stepping straight into Hill Valley. The kids were all in, donning their best 1885 Wild West gear—think cowboy hats, dresses with bustles, and boots. They were absolutely glowing with excitement as they wandered through the immersive setup. One of the biggest highlights? Meeting Biff! The actor was wonderfully in character, and the kids had a blast chatting with him (and maybe giving him a little good-natured sass). Arabella was so excited that he liked K-Pop Demon Hunters. She came alive with excitement and made a friend. We also got to stand beneath a prop of the iconic clock tower.

And oh, the DeLoreans! There were several of them on display, each one gleaming with nostalgia and flux capacitor magic. But perhaps the most magical moment was the carriage ride. With the kids dressed in their 1885 best, it felt like we’d truly traveled back in time. The gentle clip-clop of the horses, the laughter, the sense of wonder… it was one of those moments you want to bottle up and keep forever. Beyond the fun, it was meaningful to be part of an event that supports Parkinson’s research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation continues to do incredible work, and we were honored to contribute in our own small way.

The kids explored the California Railroad Museum, took a couple of train rides, saw the Mark Twain Cabin, and even visited another car museum. September was full of fun.

Here’s to time travel, family memories, and causes that matter. Great Scott—what a September to remember!
