Surprisingly Charming… Cleaveland Rocks!

Day 3: Cars, Covered Bridges, and Crossing into Pennsylvania

We woke up and decided to spend the day exploring a few neighborhoods, hoping to find somewhere we liked a little better than Toledo. Not long after leaving the hotel, we stumbled across a random car show and of course, we had to stop! Why not? The kids were thrilled, and I was honestly surprised by how family-friendly everything was. Not a single person seemed bothered that we had little ones running around. It was refreshing, they even had kid-specific activities and prizes! That’s something we never experience back home.

Afterward, we grabbed breakfast at Dunkin’ Donuts… easy, quick, and kid-approved (for the most part). Ezra wasn’t too impressed and decided to toss most of his donut holes on the floor… toddler life!

We spent the rest of the morning driving around different areas of Cleveland and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and quiet everything felt. The kids started to get a little restless, so we stopped at a Little Free Library, where they each picked out a few books to keep them entertained. Along the way, we even saw our first Amish buggies on the road… such a neat glimpse into a different way of life. For a moment, we thought we were going to get lost (zero service!), but soon enough, we found our way back to civilization.

When we passed the Packard Museum, we decided to pop in for a visit. It was on the smaller side, but still fun! The kids loved seeing all the vintage cars and checking out a few science experiments they had set up.

After the museum, we stretched our legs with a short hike by the old mill. A little time in nature always brightens my mood, and the kids loved exploring the covered bridge and discovering all the little details along the trail.

Since we were already so close to Pennsylvania, we couldn’t resist … we crossed the border just to say we did! We stopped for dinner at Eat’n Park, which turned out to be a hit with the kids. It was nice to sit, relax, and unwind after another full day on the road.

We ended the day back near Akron, ready to rest up for tomorrow’s adventures. Long drives, random stops, and little surprises… these are the moments that make the journey so much fun. Call us crazy but today was a good day.
