Happy Stroller Find!

Jay’s birthday was a couple of days ago. We celebrated by going out to eat and getting coffee. It was a lot of fun to spend it together and have some really yummy food!

Jays Birthday

WARNING… This post consists of some ranting. I just thought you should know ahead of time.

Well yesterday I was supposed to go to the doctor. I arrived early as usual and signed in. I’ve been going to this place since September so I’m used to the normal routine. We’ve been having a few issues with this office off and on but I kept telling myself we’d stick it out since we are SO close to D-Day (delivery day).

(DIGRESSION) In the past they have taken a really long time to bill our insurance company, seem to lose faxes from our insurance company, can’t seem to get my name correct (no matter how many times we’ve tried), and don’t seem to ever save my insurance information.

Well yesterday we went in and they called me up to the counter. They told me that my insurance ended on the 31st (it had not). When I told them they could call our insurance with our group number they said they had and the insurance company said we were no longer covered. Okay that’s fine. I keep a cool and composed response and just look at the desk. I’m trying to think of what is going on. Then the receptionist stands up and puts her hands on her hips…and says very loudly (for the whole office to hear) “You don’t have insurance but you can pay cash”. People started staring and I started feeling a little sick.Another receptionist stood up and  asked me very loudly if  I “wanted to re-schedule when I figured things out.” Hands on their hips and embarrassing the crap out of me I declined rescheduling my appointment. This is what it must feel like if someones credit card doesn’t go through at the store and the cashier makes a big deal out of it. I started feeling a little sicker, canceled the appointment, and didn’t reschedule. I felt humiliated. Jay said he could hear them lecturing me from across the room. I can’t even remember everything they said.  When we got to the car Jay called our insurance company and the benefits department to make sure we had insurance. Sure enough we do. But I’m considering switching doctors offices anyway… I’m not sure why they had to announce it to everyone that “I didn’t have insurance”… when I do (insert scowl). But even if I didn’t have insurance that would have been a poor way to handle the situation. They should know better… especially working with pregnant women, who by the way are more sensitive at times like these. I called my doctors direct line and left a message today. I’m hoping I hear back from him tomorrow.

Onto something happier…

We ordered our stroller today. We’re pretty excited because Amazon was having a deal where they took 40% off. AND on top of that if you spend $250 they give you $50 back. We also had a deal from American Express where if we spent $75 at amazon they would give us $50. Awesome sauce. So to make a long story short we got a $499 stroller for around $130. Not bad. And it’s the kind we want. We do have to buy the adapters for the infant seat but it’s nice that something worked out! Wonderfully. The deal sold out within hours.

Ugh, I am sorry you had to deal with that at the doctor’s office. As someone who works in healthcare, you should have not been treated like that and it almost sounds like a HIPPA violation. And if they had their stuff together, they would have checked eligibility the day before your appt to at least give you some advance notice of a problem with your insurance. Also if they insurance eligibilty checks all the time, they would know that sometimes an insurance will say you’re inactive, when your really active. Venting, sorry! This is what I do for a living. 🙂
