Holy Toledo and Beyond

We woke up after a much-needed night’s sleep and set out to explore Toledo. To be honest… it wasn’t exactly the highlight of our trip so far. Let’s just say it probably won’t make the “must-see” list next time we’re in Ohio. Still, it was fun to get out, stretch our legs, and see a bit of the city.

The real excitement of the morning came when we crossed the border into Michigan! The kids were thrilled to check off another state on our map, and we were all just happy to add a little adventure to the day.

Breakfast was a special treat: Tim Hortons! YAY! We haven’t had it in ages. The last time was either at a Yotes game back home in Arizona or during our trip to British Columbia. There’s just something about a Tim’s coffee and donut that makes a travel morning feel right.

After our little side trip into Michigan, we turned east to continue our Ohio adventure. The drive was gorgeous… open skies, winding roads, and glimpses of beautiful Lake Erie along the way. We made a few stops to stretch our legs and enjoy the scenery, and the kids loved having time to run, play, and explore outdoors. They were definitely in their element!

It was all fun and laughter until poor Luca accidentally got his finger slammed in the car door! ouch! Thankfully, after a few tears (and lots of snuggles), he was okay and back to smiling before long. Traveling with kids always comes with a few bumps along the way, but moments like these definitely make the stories more memorable!

In the end, we decided that Toledo just wasn’t for us, but it was still worth the trip just to say we’d seen a bit of Michigan. We drove on and stopped near Akron for the night, ready to rest up for whatever adventures tomorrow might bring. Long days, but it’s been so much fun so far.
