today was a pretty good day.<\/p>\n
The Mariners lost, and the Yankees completed a sweep of the Boston Red Sox putting them in a 1 game lead for the Wild Card.<\/p>\n
With the sweep of the Sox, the Yankees are now only 5 games back. Not too shabby. I loved this quote I read by Derek Jeter though, it really fits. “We need wins. I’d tell you the same thing if we just beat a high-school team three games in a row,” said Derek Jeter, who went 4-for-4. “Now we have to play well against Tampa. Otherwise these games don’t mean anything.” <\/p>\n

It has been pretty warm here- in the high 80’s but that is expected to drop into the low 70s in a day or so. Tomorrow I get to go visit my brother and sister in law. It’ll be good as I haven’t seen them in a while.<\/p>\n
I had to update with all that Yankee news — just makes me happy.<\/p>\n
Cascade has been in session for almost a week and I haven’t stopped by. I admit I thought I would have been visiting often and it seems a little odd that I haven’t. I’ve had my urges, but those are usually stopped by the fact that I lack a car.. Last year I think I visited to a point where it was natural, taken for granted and I suppose when I do get a car, I don’t want that to happen. Anywho…<\/p>\n
Poem I read from one of my friends.. I think its great so I thought I would share.<\/p>\n
Ode to Arizona<\/p>\n
The Devil wanted a place on earth.
Sort of a summer home:
A place to spend his vacation
Whenever he wanted to roam.<\/p>\n
So he picked out Arizona.
A place both wretched and rough.
Here the climate was to his liking
And the cowboys were hardened and tough.<\/p>\n
He dried up the streams in the canyons
and ordered no rain to fall:
He dried up the lakes in the valleys,
Then baked and scorched it all.<\/p>\n
Then over his barren desert
He transplanted shrubs from Hell.
The cactus, thistle and prickly pear —
The climate suited them well.<\/p>\n
Now, the home was much to his liking.
But animal life, he had none:
So he created crawling creatures
That all mankind would shun.<\/p>\n
First he made the rattlesnake.
With its forked poisonous tongue:
Taught it to strike and rattle
And how to swallow its young.<\/p>\n
Then he made Scorpions and Lizards
And the ugly old Horned Toad.
He placed spiders of every description
Under rocks by the side of the road.<\/p>\n
Then he ordered the sun to shine hotter.
Hotter and hotter still.
Until even the cactus wilted
And the old Horned Toad looked ill.<\/p>\n
Then he gazed on his earthly kingdom.
As any creator would:
He chuckled a little up his sleeve
And admitted that it was good.<\/p>\n
‘Twas summer now and Satan lay
By a prickly pear to rest.
The sweat rolled off his wearthy brow.
So he took off his coat and vest.<\/p>\n
“By Golly,” he finally panted
“I did my job too well.
I’m going back where I came from
Arizona is hotter than Hell!” <\/p>\n
Oh com’on you know you love it. Well… I do.<\/p>\n
