Texas<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to take a trip with everyone to visit Texas. Check it out and see if we like it. And if not? Well then along the way we could also check out some neighboring states. I took a week (or so?) off of work and off we went.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Short story on the picture above with the Border Patrol Agent: He stopped us (my parents were riding with us in a minivan as we were driving non-stop). He said the dog alerted to drugs and that we were smuggling drugs across the border. I was so upset as I had already heard stories of agents stopping people despite the fact that this infringed on our rights. I tried to voice this however was told that it’s illegal for me to take any photos or videos. Also was told that I needed to wait inside their office and if we all didn’t sit down while they searched the vehicle they would handcuff us to the bench and then do the search. They ended up finding nothing (big surprise). We had purchased a sub that was like 2 feet long or something so we could all share it on the road, however, when we got back into the car we found that the dog had eaten a good majority of the sandwich. I was so ticked off… but despite that really negative first interaction with Texas we were determined to not let that deter us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you can tell the photos here are NOT in order. Needless to say, we had a very busy trip. For a few days, we actually were just taking turns driving- whoever wasn’t driving would sleep in the back of the minivan. This all took place during the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, to which we normally watch. Everyone was asleep in the back of the van, I was watching it through my little iPhone trying not to wake anyone up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are so so many things we did right on the trip. I didn’t include a video but we also saw fireflies in two areas in Texas. If you visit there are actually maps that you can use to track where and when they are. This is primarily due to the fact that they are getting rarer and rarer and are feared to one day be no more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
